BMW Is In On GT1 Discussions: Report

The only news in racing (as far as I’m concerned) is that this year Toyota, McLaren, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Ford are in talks to lay out a hypercar-looks/GT1-style class for Le Mans in 2020/2021. Now BMW is in on those talks, as Motorsport.com reports. Hm.

When The Honda NSX Took On Le Mans

Ford has spent a lot of time and money over the past few years to remind you that Ford = Le Mans. Ford GT = Le Mans. Ever heard of this thing called Le Mans? Yeah, Ford won that. Meanwhile, in the background, there’s Honda, and a short but sweet program it ran with the original NSX.

This Amazing Artist Stayed Awake All Night To Capture The 24 Hours Of Le Mans In 24 Pieces

This year, during the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, artist and photographer Jayson Fong sat down to his desk to produce one piece of art for each hour of the race. A motorsport fanatic of the first degree, Jayson’s art is usually quite detailed. For this endeavor, however, he needed to finish a piece quite quickly, and it…

Blame The FIA For How Boring The 24 Hours Of Le Mans Was This Year

There are a lot of awful rule sets in the world of racing, but this season the ACO and the FIA have combined to produce what is perhaps the worst rule in racing history. While the rule was technically implemented at the 6-hour race at Spa last month, the full extent of its impact on endurance racing was shown in stark…

Second Place Toyota Slows Suddenly In Last Two Hours Of Le Mans But It Just Missed A Fuel Stop

With a little over an hour and a half to go, the No. 7 Toyota TS050 slowed abruptly from second place. Sure, 13 laps separated it from the next car given that the Toyotas are that much quicker than the privateer LMP1 teams, but you have to finish the race to be classified—as Toyota knows painfully after their leading…

Old Ford For Sale Doesn’t Even Come With A Passenger Side Mirror

Look at this old thing, this 1966 Ford GT40. Right-hand drive, as un-American as you can get, and Ford doesn’t even have the decency to stick a passenger side mirror on it. What’s so special about it anyway?

Your Spectacular On-The-Ground Thursday Le Mans Photo Gallery Is Here

Some outlets are perfectly content covering the greatest race in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with stock and wire service images. Toyota Was Fastest In Le Mans’ First Qualifying Session To No One’s Surprise

At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota’s LMP1 squad is basically the Highlander—and we’re not talking about the truck. There can be only one…factory hybrid LMP1 team remaining in Le Mans’ fastest class. Thus, we’re not that surprised to see the No. 8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid set the fastest time in the first qualifying…

I’m Driving To The 24 Hours Of Le Mans In This Porsche 911 GT3

I’m about to scratch a major item off my photography bucket list: I’m covering the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend for Jalopnik. And in addition to shooting the race and tracking how Porsche’s team in particular wages war on track for a day straight, I have a good ride in the form of this 911 GT3.
