Mahk Is Back to Take Down Another Chevy ‘Real People’ Truck Ad

You remember Mahk, the “real person” with a Boston accent that says what we’re all thinking in those stupid Chevy ads? Well he’s back to take on the latest one about Chevy’s trucks, and now he apparently has a visual effects budget.

The ‘Meh’ Cars From That Honda Ad Aren’t Actually All That Meh

The word “meh,” despite its meaning, is interesting. The origins could be from Yiddish, but most now agree that it was popularized by the Simpsons. The usage, however, is not in dispute at all: boring, dull, unremarkable, unable to have shits donated, bland. We use it in our own Meh Car Monday series, and recently…

This Has to Be One of the Weirdest and Most Specific Car Ads Ever

Back in 1969, a full-page ad for a car in a major magazine like Road & Track wasn’t cheap, especially for a company like British Leyland, which didn’t exactly have the resources for their American operations like, say, Ford or GM. That’s why you’d think you’d make a full-page ad with some actual pictures of the car…

Now more than ever, I’m convinced Father John Misty is a genius. Not just because his own music is great, or because he was in Fleet Foxes, or because he does insane things like cover Ryan Adams’ Taylor Swift covers in the style of the Velvet Underground, but because he just eviscerated the music in every eco-friendly car commercial.

That Time Mythbusters Inadvertently Helped Volkswagen Lie To The World

Mythbusters, though we may all be fans of it, was not exactly hard-hitting journalism. And sometimes the hosts were paid to shill for companies. And with hindsight, it’s easy to see how that could go wrong. Like the time they helped Volkswagen claim that its illegal, cheaty diesels were cleaner than other cars on the road.
