IndyCar Driver Calls for Union: ‘You Shouldn’t Have to Risk Your Life for Free’

Popular IndyCar driver and Dancing with the Stars (?) runner-up James Hinchcliffe called for collective bargaining among drivers in IndyCar today, arguing that there should be league minimums like the NFL. “There are drivers out there right now that drive for free. You shouldn’t have to risk your life for free.”

Circuit of The Americas Could Finally Get an IndyCar Race After All 

In recent years, Austin’s Circuit of The Americas has publicly said it wants to host series like IndyCar and NASCAR. Each time, Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth has publicly waved its index finger to remind everyone that its contracts block racing from the rest of the state. Time may finally be up on that.

Terrifying IndyCar Crash Stops Race At Pocono

On the seventh lap of 200 in today’s IndyCar race at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania, a number of cars were involved in a huge crash that saw Robert Wickens’ car pushed up into the catch fencing and shredded like a wheel of cheese. Wickens’ condition is unknown at this time.

When Danica Patrick lost her Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series ride at the end of the 2017 season, she said she’d compete twice more, in two of America’s biggest racing events, before retiring from the top levels of the sport in 2018—the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500.
