Rizon for iOS Helps You Take the Perfect "Golden Hour" Photos Anywhere

When it comes to good natural lighting, you can’t beat the time of day known as “golden hour” (or “magic hour”). This iOS app can tell when golden hour is every day no matter where you are, and lets you set reminders so you never miss the perfect shot.http://lifehacker.com/how-to-improve…

We’ve featured cool ways to find golden hour before, but this app from Sam King and Malolan Santhanakris is easier to use and far more portable. The main screen has a dial you can rotate to find the golden hour times for the current day based on your location. You can also quickly set reminders for the current day or the next morning, and you can even set custom reminders for future dates with alerts that go off up to two hours in advance. Rizon lets you see the golden hour times for anywhere in the world, even if you’re offline, and you can set reminders for future dates in different locations so you can grab the perfect shots on that upcoming vacation. It’s so simple and slick it’s a no-brainer for anyone into photography. Unfortunately for Android users, King has said there won’t be an Android version in the near future. You can download Rizon in the iOS App Store for $1.99 at the link below.

Microsoft Office Lens Scans Notes and Documents into Office Format

iOS/Android: Document and note scanning is nothing new. However, Microsoft has decided to enter the game with an advantage only it can offer: excellent Office integration.

Office Lens, as the new app is called, can scan documents “from any angle” (though you should still probably aim for a head-on image) and automatically fix its perspective, crop it, and clean it up. It can also do other typical OCR tricks like pulling contact info off a business card.

Office Lens can export your notes in a variety of formats including JPEG, PDF, and Office filetypes like Word or Powerpoint. The latter comes with some extra tricks. For example, if you save a note in Powerpoint format, the app will make hand-drawn images and text into objects you can arrange separately. All scans can also be exported directly to OneNote or OneDrive.

The tight Office integration gives Office Lens a leg up over similar OCR scanners. It’s out right now for iOS, but Android users will need to join a beta in order to get access to the preview version.
